Message from Our Principal, Alexandra Friel

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. It was an exciting summer as we prepared a new campus to welcome our 4th and 5th graders. It has been a thrilling adventure racing to the finish line in time to open the campus. We hope you are as excited as we are to have our very own space.
I am very excited to begin my second year here at Mariposa, and to be opening our new school. Prior to my arrival, I spent 18 years as an educator. In my 8 years as a teacher, 6 of them were as a 5th grade teacher. I have served as a Teacher on Special Assignment for Language Arts, a Principal, and most recently in San Mateo as the Coordinator of English Language development. I am excited to continue this year in the San Carlos School District and further our mission of developing the whole child.
With our new campus comes the fun part of developing our culture. Over the year, your children will participate in a wide variety of activities that will help them leave their mark on a new school. It will include participating in developing a “living school yard”, student led events, and Mariposa events that we haven’t had yet. I look forward to supporting your children in an amazing year ahead. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to us or check our school website  Happy new year!
