Welcome to the Mariposa School Information Page
Principal Triska’s March 27th Update to the Mariposa Community
Hello again Mariposa families.
Thank you for your participation over the last two weeks, sharing your thoughts and ideas about the best options for our 4th and 5th grade students next year, in light of the construction delays for the TL Campus Rebuild Project. Between the many emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings, and hearing your comments at the well-attended Arundel and Heather community meetings, we feel confident we’ve heard from the vast majority of the affected families and can now put forth a viable proposal. We appreciate the way this community has come together to consider a broad range of possibilities to come up with a plan that is in the best interests of the children.
For those of you who were unable to attend, here is the link to the presentation slides on our district website.
At this time, Dr. Baker and our team are drafting a proposal for the School Board to consider, details of which will be posted to in a meeting notice this Thursday and discussed at a Special Board Meeting to be held at 6:30 PM, on Monday, April 3, in the School District Board Room, at 1200 Industrial Road, Unit 9. Note: this meeting will replace the earlier proposed meeting on that day at the TL Library. We invite you and all interested parties to attend. Please know that the comments, questions, and answers that were shared in the two previous community meetings, as well as through conversations and other means, have already been shared with the School Board members.
Finally, I want you to know we heard your repeated feedback regarding your hopes that we will continue to prioritize implementing our vision for Mariposa, as we roll out this plan next year, regardless of the settings in which students and staff find themselves. That not only pleases me, but also inspires me to continue to build the best 4/5 school experience possible for our students, not just in this coming year, but also for the years to come.
With gratitude and best wishes,
John Triska, Principal of Mariposa School
We have been working to design and develop the programs and environments of the Mariposa School. This one page website is here to share with you some of the progress we’ve made. We are also developing Mariposa’s full website and social media presence. In the meantime, we want to share with you some documents and images from our work.
Attention 3rd and 4th Graders
Why Are You Excited to go to Mariposa?
One Minute (or less) Video Challenge: Why are you excited to go to Mariposa?
Hello families of incoming Mariposa students. I’m enjoying getting to know your students during visits and assemblies at Heather and Arundel. They are so enthusiastic about Mariposa! I’m sharing this “One minute (or less) video challenge” with them to give them an opportunity to express themselves to each other in a virtual space, while we wait for our actual school space to be ready for us.
Please click here for more information about how your student can submit a video (with your permission), thank you!
Please note: Please do not include your last name in the video!
