Hello Mariposa@TL families.
Thank you for joining us at Wednesday’s Back to School Night. It was wonderful to meet so many of you, and share enthusiasm about the start of the year.
I want to add to Wednesday night’s update on our Mariposa facilities. As you know, this year we are blended into the TL campus, but with our own eating area and play yard. Our students have been patient and creative while we await completion by the workers who are transforming the latter. Last week the grass field was rolled out, a perimeter of oak trees planted, and painting/striping began. This week, 6 basketball standards are expected to be installed, additional fencing to follow, including our gate into the wild zone, which awaits our exploration.
Due to the excessive heat Thursday and Friday, we kept our students in the shade and stayed off the blacktop, and Friday enjoyed lunchtime and PE in the TL Learning Commons. As I noted Wednesday night, I’m impressed with this class’s flexibility and innovation in the face of adversity.
Please enjoy these slides of the work being done at our “upper playground,” and our students’ innovative play, making lemonade out of lemons: Flexible, Creative Play at Mariposa@TL.
Finally, as a reminder, our classroom teachers are out learning Tuesday and Thursday this week, developing expertise in our new, more personalized curricula. Please support our students’ success by taking a moment to remind them of their role in contributing to positive learning with guest teachers in their classrooms, thank you!
